Ipsy's December Glam Bag Review

I've been receiving Ipsy glam bags for about 6 months now and while the products can be hit or miss (obviously not everyone is going to be pleased with each product), most of their items are high quality. One of their glam bags turned me into a forever fan of Skin Food's Black Sugar Mask while another bag made me revisit my love for a winged liquid cat eye.

December's glam bag included an item that I haven't tested out and I won't be for a while (First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser) because I've been struggling with dry skin and have been steering clear of soap cleansers, at least until summertime.

So to start with my favourite beauty product in the bunch, Rodial Glamolash Mascara XXL was amazing at lengthening my lashes and their claim to creating a feathered lash look was indeed true. This mascara basically took my natural lashes and made them look like a better version of themselves without any clumps or brittleness. I don't bat my eyelashes at anyone, but I may have to now.

The applicator tip is classic and there's nothing wrong with classic, I actually prefer it over fancy applicators. Anyone ever try that mascara with that mace ball at the end? Frightening.

This Smashbox eyeliner is the darkest black and the butteriest formula. It's waterproof, hard day at work proof and even eye makeup remover proof. Honestly, I had a hard time taking this off. I would use this on special occasions only as it has crazy staying power.  The top line shows the product layered over itself and the bottom line is just a single swipe to show how dark it is. The second picture is me trying to smudge it hard after 1 minute.

Smashbox Always On Gel Liner

I seldom use eyeshadow and the one eyeshadow palette I use has a pretty nice brush in it so I decided to try this brush to apply concealer and I fell in love! The tip is round and fluffy so it gives an airbrushed effect but the hairs are dense enough that you can apply generously. I love the size of it for concealer application, especially with my new RCMA palette. The RCMA palette has a slot to place your own makeup brush but the handle of this one is too long to fit in but I like it so much that I'll be MacGuyver-ing it up this week to get it to fit.

Luxie Beauty Precision Shader

I was so excited to receive a serum in my glam bag as my current serum is almost done and I'm wondering if I should repurchase or there might be something better out there for me. Unfortunately, I really didn't like this product. It was pleasant for the first few seconds while I was applying it because it glides on like a dream. Then I smelled some strong menthol/pine/eucalyptus concoction... ok it might be refreshing... but then it started burning and as the formula dried down, my skin dried up with it. There's a lot of fragrance and alcohol in the ingredients so that's most likely the culprit.

Join Ipsy to receive a monthly package for $10 USD a month. Your glam bag will include 5 beauty products which are tailored to your preferences and the glam bag itself which is a cute pouch that changes monthly.
