Books I'm Bringing to the Beach: Honduras Edition

Damn Daniel, back at it again! My friend Sarah painted such a pretty picture of her trip to Honduras with her family that it's been constantly swirling around in my thoughts. We took a vacation together to Turks and Caicos a few years ago that she organized herself and it was pure heaven, so I no doubt have a lot of confidence in her suggestions.

I always look around for cheap tickets online (flew to India for only $600 last year!) and when I saw non-stop tickets to Honduras for under $500 I just HAD TO. We're staying in a little villa on the beach for a week and I'm hoping to get to do a little more sightseeing that I was able to in Cuba.

I'm bringing 3 books with me again this time and some backed up on my iPad because I just tore through my books the last time.

First off, this week I picked up The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. It follows the story of Starr Carter who witnesses the shooting of her best friend at the hands of a white police officer and the consequences of telling the truth. I think it's very important to keep yourself informed and a part of the race dialogue (just look at the level of ignorance Miroslava Duma showed the world this week, not ok) and with this book that debuted at the top of the New York Times best-seller list, I cannot wait to dive in.

Never Never is something that I had for a while but never started. This romantic novella follows a high school couple who for some unknown reason lose their memories and work together to put together the pieces of what happened, why it happened and along the way, why they love each other.

I tried my best to skim over reviews before they gave the spoiler alerts and many tissue boxes will be needed for this one!

Finally, The Husband's Secret by the writer of Big Little Lies, Liane Moriarty. I've also had this for a long time and a few weeks ago I had started getting into the groove of reading it but life happened and taking the time to get reinvested in characters was just a little too overwhelming for me. So, I'm looking forward to getting the chance to read this through.

Cecilia lives a perfectly normal life until one day she finds a letter addressed to her from her husband to open in the event of his death. But, shocker! He's still alive and she opens it anyways and it reveals a devastating secret that will affect the lives of many.

So I'm leaving on Monday and won't be back for a week. Hope you guys have a great weekend and rest of the next week! xo
