[REVIEW] The Ordinary's AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution

Tip: When first using this The Ordinary's Peeling Solution, scare your roommate or loved one when they ask what the hell is on your face. Answer "Fresh placenta mask" and walk away. I bet they'd believe you.

The red liquid is actually not all that horrifying if you're a skincare lover (we're used to putting all sorts of things on our faces!) and actually really helps you see how much you're putting on and where you're putting it.

The Ordinary advises this product to be used by people who are already experienced with acids. This is because the solution is extremely potent. It's actually not even available for sale in Canada*. It has a blend of 30% AHA and 2% BHA. To cut a long story short, AHA's are chemical exfoliants that do an enormous amount of skin benefitting work, some of which are exfoliation, wrinkle reduction, brightening, firming and reducing pigmentation issues. While AHA's are water soluble and work on the skin's surface, BHA's are oil soluble and will go deeper into your pores to do their dirty work.

They also advise not to use this longer than 10 minutes and no more than twice a week. I only had a little experience with acids, so I started using this for 6 minutes and once a week. I use this treatment only at night because it makes your skin sensitive to the sun and I don't use any other acid that morning, that night and the next morning. I gradually worked my way up to 10 minutes twice a week with no problems.

I use about two droppers worth of product which I drop into my palm then use my fingers to carefully smooth it onto my face avoiding my eye area. I set a timer to 10 minutes and I let it do it's work. The consistency is like a liquid-gel which stays put so don't worry about dancing around while this is on, it'll stay put. I wash this off with warm water, pay dry and then apply a soothing moisturizer.

This little miracle bottle is an instant facial. After the first use you will immediately notice your skin to be incredibly soft. The next morning you'll also notice your face to look a lot brighter. Long term use can also reduce the appearance of wrinkles and pigmentation. Since I use a medley of products to help with hyper pigmentation, once I added this to my weekly regime, I've noticed significant fading in my problem areas.

I cannot imagine my skincare stash without a bottle of this. People have compared this to Drunk Elephant's Baby Facial but with such a steep difference in price, how can you go wrong with The Ordinary?

If you choose to purchase The Ordinary through Beauylish, they will include super useful set of stickers so you can label your skincare.

*While the product isn't available in Canada, I was able to order mine with no problems through Beautylish. The Ordinary also will have something new available this year that will be within the Canadian standards for sale.
