Saturday Skin's Rise + Shine Gentle Cleanser is a Skin Cleansing Warrior

At the end of last fall I had decided to ditch soapy face cleansers for the entire winter season because for the past two years, every winter, my skin would dry up and flake all winter. It was really bad situation and especially disgusting around my nose. Exfoliating made it come back with a vengeance within a day and wearing makeup made it looks 10x worse than it was. So, I picked up an oil cleanser and it helped my winter skin a ton by swapping sebum for hydrating oils.

Now that spring has made it's appearance, I decided to get back on the frothy, foamy, soapy cleanser train. I really wanted to avoid a product that made my skin feel tight after cleansing but still made my face feel squeaky clean. I picked up Saturday Skin's Rise + Shine Gentle Cleanser but I was definitely a little wary at first. That millennial pink packaging, as pretty as it is, was making me wonder if it's just good branding with a subpar product.

Well... I was very happy with my first try! I used a pea sized amount with my electric facial brush and went for it. This stuff lathers up like crazy! It looked like shaving cream on my face. I don't know if if that's everyones cup of tea but it was super satisfying for me. I also used it without an electric brush and it lathered up beautifully as well but I just reaaally liked it with a brush.

Their website says it's made with apple extracts which lightens and brightens skin tone, has anti-aging benefits and helps with hydration while the peach extracts help regenerate skin tissue, lighten dark circles and smoothes out fine lines. However, while looking at the ingredient list, theres a whole slurry of extracts in it.

Quillaja Saponaria Bark Extract, also known as the soap bark tree is an alternative to soap since it lathers up with contact to water. This must be the reason the cleanser has such a luxurious lather.

Ananas Sativus Fruit Extract is pineapple extract and it contains antioxidants and skin soothing properties.

Actinidia Chinensis Fruit Extract is the super fancy term for kiwi extract. This extract is a collagen stimulant thus helping with firmness. It also contains an enzyme that helps exfoliate skin.

Fragaria Vesca Fruit Extract aka strawberry extract, is known to brighten skin complexion and is loaded with antioxidants thanks to the high amount of vitamin c.

Vitis Vinifera Fruit Extract which is grape seed extract is known to be an anti fungal, anti microbial and an antioxidant. It contains malic acid which is an AHA that helps break down top layers of skin.

Hydrolyzed Avocado Protein stimulates the hyaluronic acid that is in our skin to restore volume to mature and dehydrated skin.

The cleanser doesn't leave my skin tight and dry and that would be thanks to it being packed with oils like lemon peel, cedar wood, sweet lemon, grapefruit, eucalyptus, lavender and rosemary oil. I can hardly notice any scent in it but in reading other peoples reviews, they have mentioned a light apple scent.

Last but not least, it's made without parabens, sulphates, synthetic colours or synthetic fragrance and it's cruelty free.
